Profile

Mehdi Foumani (Ph.D.) is an Associate Professor at the School of Intelligent Business and Finance. He holds B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees in Industrial Engineering from the University of Tehran (Iran), and a Ph.D. degree in Operations Management from Monash University (Australia).
His research focuses on Operations Research techniques such as mixed-integer programming and their applications in industry and supply chain-decision making.
Dr. Foumani has worked at Monash University (54, QS ranking), the University of Melbourne (33, QS ranking), and the University of Sydney (41, QS ranking) to gain experience both in academia and industry.
He has worked as a research fellow in Monash University and the University of Melbourne, mainly in the area of energy management, sustainable transport and logistics. As a industry project lead in the University of Sydney, he has received an industry research grant to explore how heuristic procedures and algorithms can help Pit-to-Port Optimization that allows for fusion of information from multiple sources across the whole integrated operation.
