Profile

Amer Kotb received his PhD and MSc in Electronics in 2012 and 2006, respectively. He was a PhD researcher in the Department of Physics at the University of Connecticut in the USA.

He is an associate professor in the School of Chips at the XJTLU. He is also a professor of Electronics at the University of Fayoum in Egypt. He worked as an associate professor at the Chinese Academy of Sciences from 2017 to 2023. He also worked as an assistant professor and vice head of the Physics Department at Northern Border University in Saudi Arabia from 2012 to 2015.

Amer's current research activities include investigating and simulating all-optical logic devices using different optical waveguides. He has published more than 70 peer-reviewed journal papers as the first and corresponding author in high-impact journals, such as Optics Letters, IEEE Journal of Selected Topics in Quantum Electronics, Optics and Laser Technology, Optics Communications, Physica Scripta, Applied Physics, Micromachines, Optik, Photonics, Electronics, etc. Amer is a reviewer in a lot of scientific optics journals. He has also examined many master's and doctoral theses from India, Pakistan, Egypt, and Saudi Arabia.

Amer has won the Talent Young Scientist Program (TYSP) twice (i.e. in 2019 and 2020) and the Chinese Academy of Sciences President’s International Fellowship Initiative (PIFI) three times (i.e. in 2019, 2022, and 2023) supported by the Chinese Government.

Amer Kotb was ranked as one of the world’s top 2% scientists by Stafford University for 2020, 2021, 2022, and 2023.
