Profile

I'm Senior Associate Professor/Reader in English Literature, working principally on cultural politics 1790-1850, and specializing in Romantic poetry and prose.

I am on research leave in 2024, taking up two external fellowship appointments: as Senior Fellow in the Institute of Historical Research at the University of London's School of Advanced Study, and as Fleeman Research Fellow in the School of English, University of St Andrews.

My service to the profession includes an Associate Editorship on the Edinburgh University Press journal 'Romanticism' (2016-present); Life Membership of the Wordsworth Conference Foundation (elected 2018); Fellowship of the Royal Historical Society (elected 2022); Trusteeship and Committee Membership of the Friends of Coleridge (elected 2023); and Fellowship of the English Association (elected 2024).
