Dushu Lake Science and Higher Education Innovation District provides all students with accommodation. For international, China’s HK, Macao, and Taiwan students, Parfait Hotel and Apartments, and Scholar’s Apartments are available.

Currently, the accommodation facilities in which our students stay are located within the Suzhou Industrial Park (SIP) where the university is situated, and are managed privately by the Suzhou Industrial Park Education Development and Investment Limited Company. They are not owned or managed directly by the university, but we communicate with them on your behalf.

You will receive information about your accommodation options once you have received your unconditional offer. We will assist in booking accommodation once you have paid your deposit to secure your place at XJTLU. Where possible, we will try to allocate you to your preferred choice of accommodation. However, if your first choice is unavailable, we will try to match you to a second choice that is as similar as possible.

ACCOMMODATION IN SUZHOU

There are 3 main types of accommodation usually available in Suzhou. For all of the options, you must pay for utilities separately, namely electricity, water, and gas. You also need to arrange for an internet connection with your own contract, but this is easily and quickly done at one of any number of local suppliers.

The accommodation providers are a separate company and are not the university. We can help you book accommodation, but we do not manage it. They offer two types of contracts. The first is for fewer than 90 days’ stay and is slightly more expensive. The cheaper option is to commit to a contract of more than 90 days, and up to a year, but you can decide its length and renew at any time if rooms are available. The minimum length of the deposit is 30 days. If you leave the accommodation before the contract ends, you may lose all or a part of your deposit.

You can also arrange to rent a private apartment near the university, either alone or with friends. The easiest way to do this is to employ a local accommodation agent, and there are many of these. The standard agent fee for finding you an apartment is 2 weeks’ rent per year, but this usually includes managing your rental agreement, helping with paying bills and setting up services such as television and internet, and helping with any problems that might arise.

In any accommodation, you can set up an international television service with video on demand (both films and television), playback channels, and live television from around the world. Prices vary, but this generally costs 1,000 to 1,200RMB for a year’s contract and requires a good internet connection.

All photos here are examples of rooms, and individual rooms may vary.
